Phalaenopsis violacea fma magenta

Another plant of this variety is blooming after a long period of neglect. Very intense colour and comes with a spicier fragrance compared to P. bellina.

Phalaenopsis violacea var. indigo

An intensely colored specimen of P. violacea var. indigo.  This variety appeared on the market many years ago but the first few generations were of pale indigo coloration. Recently more intense colored version is available at much lower price.

Vanda tassellata

Vanda tessellata has many colour variations. This one is brownish-orange in colour and has a similarly colored lip. It has a strange smelling fragrance which I am not sure how to describe. Online description says "lilac".

Cattleya lawrenceana

Another Cattleya flowered a couple of days ago. Maybe the recent rain and cooler nights is working wonders. This species is from Venezuela, Guyana and surrounding areas.

Phalaenopsis blooming

This is Phalaenopsis violacea fma magenta. This variety of violacea has rich and uniform magenta colour.

A crossing between violacea and bellina. This is Phaenopsis Samera var indigo.  The colour is bluish purple concentrated in the middle and gradually spreading outwards. The flower shape leans towards bellina. Strongly scented too.

A stunning hybrid. Phalaenopsis Mituo Blue Bear 'Mituo #1" and Phalaenopsis Miro Super Star Ya-Yi Qin. A combination of deep red and purple on a flower of very good shape.

Phalaenopsis bellina from Sumatra. A very free-flowering specimen with good shape for a non-cultivated plant. Comes with the signature strong fragrance of a bellina.
An interesting little seedling sprouted from amounst the root mass of this other specimen from Sumatra. Looks like a Phalaenopsis but need to wait for it to grow bigger.

Paphiopedilum glanduliferum

According to many experts Paph glanduliferum is either extinct or synonym of P. praestans. My observation is that the plants currently sold as glanduliferum tend to have broader and longer leaves than those sold as praestans. The flower stalk is also much thicker...but...the flowers look alike.  This is a recent glanduliferum which flowered.

Phalaenopsis pantherina

A very rare specimen of Phalaenopsis pantherina with extremely good form and size. The flower is the same size as the P. Bellina.

Phalaenopsis bellina

I was surprised to see that this plant is actually a bellina. It has not flowered for a long time and had been shifted around so much that I lost the label. The flower is rather big so let's hope it gets a bit bigger when the plant grow larger leaves.

Aerides lawrenceae

This is a very old plant from Penang. It used to be in the collection of Mr Lim Song.

Coelogyne celebensis

This plant has not flowered for a very long time. In fact it almost died, partly due to orchid weevils and partly due to neglect.

Now its showing strong signs of a comeback.

A Splash Of Yellow

2 Yellow orchids are in bloom.  The first one is Vanda denisoniana yellow.

The second yellow orchid is Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi var flava

Phalaenopsis pantherina

This orchid is a close relative of P. cornu-cervi and P. lamelligera. While many other plants of P. pantherina has a more slender shape with denser patches of color, this particular plant's shape and color is very close to one of my P. lamelligera. However the flower of this pantherina is more than twice the size of the lamelligera. This one is slightly more than 2 inches from top to bottom.

Paphiopedilum intaniae

This is a very interesting paph. Flowering for the very first time with a dark brown flower stalk carrying 3 strikingly colored flowers.
