Growing Paphiopedilums or Paphs is my main hobby. I also grow many other orchids such as phalaenopsis, dendrobium, coelogyne etc.

A Few Nice Flowers This Morning
Phalaenopsis bellina from MH nursery. This is a very strong plant with thick flowers and gives off a strong bellina scent in the morning.
This beautiful Phalaenopsis has been flowering for quite some time already. This morning i happened to see this flower hidden under a leaf so i brought it up in order to take a picture. This is Princess Kaiulani 'alba'.
Bulbophyllum vaginatum flowering
This colony of Bulbophyllum vaginatum mounted on a cocohusk pipe is flowering again in response to the recent rain. B. vaginatum can be found on top of some of the oldest trees in Singapore. So far i have not seen any of them on newly planted trees. Some old rain trees in the old turf club and MacRitchie Reservoir has massive colonies of them and their mass flowering is a spectacular sight.
If we lose these trees we will definitely lose an important part of Singapore. So next time you go to Ah Yat Seafood Restaurant in Turf City, keep a look out for them.
Where to look? Its behind some fences around the car park. In fact once you know how they look like on tree branches, you will suddenly see so many other trees around the area with them. But please don't confuse them with the dragon's scale ferns.

Bulbophyllum fascinator
This plant of Bulbophyllum fascinator is very free flowering. The flower is also big and brightly colored.
Dendrobium cretaceum
I bought this from the Singapore Garden Tech show last year from YihCheng's booth. The owner Mdm Lai did not know its name at that time. So after a year of growing, it turned out to be Dendrobium cretaceum.
