Paphiopedilum niveum

Not many Paphs flowering at the moment.  This is a niveum from Song Orchids which is just opening this morning.  Paph. niveum is an easy Paph for our climate and do well if given about 50%-60% shade and good ventilation.

A Few Phalaenopsis Flowering

These are pictures of some Phalaenopsis that are flowering at the moment.

This is a supposedly wild collected Phal. violacea alba from Malaysia.  Bought it from Mr. Lim of Penang a few years ago.  The plant looks white but has an extremely faint pink tone.
This is a plant of Phal. amboinesis flava from MH nursery.

This is a Phal. pulchra hybrid which i think may be from Mr. Lim of Penang. The plant is almost always in flower.

Bromheadia aporoides

This orchid has a plant structure that is very similar to some species of Dendrobiums.  But the flower is distinctively different and very unique to the Bromheadia family.  The white flowers open in the morning and by afternoon it will close and wither.  Its lifespan is even shorter than Dendrobium crumenatum.  But the flowers are beautiful and has a slight fragrance.  I always miss the flowering for some reason but luckily this morning i spotted the flowers and quickly took a few shots.

Phalaenopsis bellina

A nice Phal. bellina from Penang. It has a very nice, well-balanced shape i.e. not too rounded and very flat petals and sepals (esp. the petals does not curve backwards).

Paphiopedilum barbatum

These plants of Paph. barbatum are from a nursery in Cameron Highlands of Malaysia.

Bulbophyllum annandalei (yellow)

This is a beautiful Bulbophyllum from Thailand. It recently produced 2 flower spikes with beautifl yellowish white flowers.  This is the first flowering after growing it for about a year.

Bulbophyllum auratum

Must be the recent rain that triggered the Bulbophyllum auratum to send out two flower spikes.
