Paphiopedilum bellatulum

This is one my favourite Paphs.  It s easy to grow in our climate and flowers easily as soon as the plant reaches flowering size.  Woon Leng and Song Orchids frequency import them from either Thailand or Taiwan.  This one has decided to hide inside the pot.

  1. Hi Joe, you have a beautiful and wide selection of paphs which is very inspiring. I'm Nic. Not sure if you can remember that we communicated last year in GCS. Anyway, my experience with paphs wasn't a fruitful one as I was kind of discouraged by the high mortality rate of my slippers and had given up on them since this time last year. Apart from that, the neglect was also partly due to my irregular working schedules. But somehow, towards the end of last year, I decided to tidy up my orchid shelves by clearing the rotted ones and repot the remaining with fresh new mix of medium. At the beginning of february this year, one of my slipper finally spiked. It was glaucophyllum. I was delighted and I began to spend a little more time taking care of it, that's why it's still blooming happily on the same spike now. During the repotting which I mentioned earlier, I used a different mix of potting media from the previous one and I guess this is the reason for the recent bloom and the emergence of green (not black this time) healthy side shoots. I guess the next thing to do is shopping, which is the most favourite part of the hobby. The paphs that are shown in this blog is really inspiring and it gives me an idea of what I can get in my next nursery trip. Thank you for putting up such a wonderful blog and I'm looking forward to see more blooms in your garden.
