Growing Paphiopedilums or Paphs is my main hobby. I also grow many other orchids such as phalaenopsis, dendrobium, coelogyne etc.

Cymbidium ensifolium
At last year's Garden Festival, i bought 4 plants of cymbidium ensifolium. Then i bought a cymbidium pot from WL nursery and put every plant in it because i was running out of space. There is an expensive variegated leaf type var. "Jin Qi 锦旗", one alba var. "Rui Yu" and two normal types var. "Rainbow 彩虹" and "馬尾爪". Three flower spikes appeared recently and they are so beautiful.
This is the flower spike of Jin Qi.

Even the petals and sepals have a white border. The leaves are very ornamental, with their white veins running the whole length of the leaf. This seems to be a unique form of 锦旗.

Phal. Penang violacea
This is my Phal Penang violacea flowering again after i rescued it from certain death. You can see that the old leaves are still showing scars from fungal attack but the new leaf is shining new. The culprit - rain. I observe that plants kept in shade are free from this scaring whereas plants exposed to rain develop soft spots turning black and then they become a black scar.
Flushing the plants after a rain helps to reduce this but we can't be around after every rain to do it. The only solution i think is to put a plastic cover over the top.

Paph concolor alba
Paph. exul with two spikes
The first flower just opening on 13/1/09
The first flower is fully opened on 16/1/09
Both flowers are open this morning.
I re-potted this plant of Paph exul to give it more "root space" about 3~4 months ago. I am unwilling to split the plant because it look great as a big clump with five growth points. This plant flowers all the time so there is really a good chance to get five flower spikes together soon.
Dendrobium aggregatum
The flowers of Den. aggregatum are really pretty. They are bright yellow with a dark orange centre. Looks so delicious. I hope i don't have to wait too long for the next flowering. This also proves my theory that things usually happen when you are not looking. I would sometimes keep on observing a certain plant to see if it is going to flower soon (usually no result). But it is usually plants that i overlook that gives the most pleasant surprise (that's life).
Phal. Princess Kaiulani from Taiwan
This plant was bought when i visited Taiwan last October. It is not really different from MH nursery's hybrid except for the shape. The plant that i chose from MH's nursery is the yellow form with no markings. There were also plants with some yellow bars but i really liked the pure yellow form. It is also much rarer cos most of the plants have barred flowers.

Phal. Princess Kaiulani "Yellow"
This particular variety of Princess Kaiulani was created by MH nursery a few years ago using bellina "alba" and amboinensis "flava" after MH nursery acquired the amboinensis "flava" from Mr. David Lim. Amboinensis "flava" subsequently found its way into the hands of many other local and taiwanese nurseries so today there are many similar crossings made and the market is flooded. Crossings with good form and colour still command very good price.

Unexpected Dendrobium farmeri and aggregatum Flower Spike
A week ago, my Dendrobium farmeri decided to throw out a flower spike from an old cane. This was quite a surprise because the plant just flowered a couple of months back. This dendrobium is suppose to be very seasonal.
Another very seasonal orchid is the Dendrobium aggragatum. Could hardly believe my eyes when i see the flower buds. When i bought this plant last year, i thought it would be the last time i see the flowers because this plant is well known to stay dormant in our singaporean climate. Somehow the weather here just isn't right.

Phalaenopsis Tabasco Tex
Phalaenopsis David Lim
Phalaenopsis Sogo Sun
This is a very stunning Phal which i bought from Song Orchid a few years ago. It constantly produces new flower spikes and old flower spikes would sometimes burst into live again and produce a few more flowers. The flowers are in my opinion, of award winning quality in terms of shape, colour and presentation.
